House of Waterford’s Factory Tour

Crafted since 1783, Waterford continues to be at the forefront of exquisitely designed and expertly hand-crafted crystal creations.

House of Waterford stands proudly as Waterford’s flagship store and showcases Waterford’s key value of craftsmanship; allowing visitors to experience the beauty of Waterford from initial concept to final product.  The factory is the beating heart of Waterford’s crystal manufacture and is where the most intricate, authentic, and masterful crystal pieces come to life.

The tour follows each production process, beginning in mould room where visitors can witness the ancient art of mould making; through to the blowing platform, where highly-skilled Master Blowers transform glowing balls of crystal into majestic shapes before placing them through the 1400-degree furnace.

Moving to the marking department, where the crystal is marked with a temporary geometric grid that assists the Master Cutter as they cut the pattern onto the crystal; to the cutting department where Master Cutters utilise their masterful skills to cut intricate patterns by applying the exact pressure to make the cut without damaging the integrity of the vessel.

Finally the sculpting and engraving departments showcases inspirational pieces of crystal created by our Master Sculptors and Engravers. Experience how delicately our Master Craftsmen adorn intricate detail onto the crystal as they transform robust blocks of crystal into elegant shapes and figures with their sculpting wheels.
