Christmas Library Events

Central Library:

Date & Time:  26th November to 12th December, various times: Where in the World did my Christmas Dinner come from?

The Waterford One World Centre will run workshops for school groups on where Christmas food comes from, what processes are involved and how far it has travelled to get to the dinner plate. For more information, email


Date & Time:  5th December 2pm–3pm:  What in the World happens to all that wrapping paper?

Drop in to this open workshop run by Plastic Free Waterford to find out what happens to all that wrapping paper we use at Christmas time and hear about some great alternatives that can be used instead. All welcome.


Date & Time:  Thurs Dec 20th, 12noon: Christmas Across Europe Celebration

All are welcome to come along to this wonderful celebration of Christmas across Europe hosted by the Europe Direct Information Centre. Enjoy a mince pie or two and other European treats while listening to well known Christmas Carols from the Library Bealtaine Choir. There will also be a Christmas tree filled with decorations from schools across Europe.


Date:  Sat 15th Dec: Christmas Arts and Craft Sessions with Artstorm.  

10.30-11.30am, 3-6 year olds (children must be accompanied by an adult)

Learn ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ and create your own Grinch-themed Christmas decoration! Suitable for ages 4+.

Make your very own Christmas-themed bookmark. This would make a lovely surprise for under the Christmas tree.  Suitable for ages 4 +.

Date & Time: Fri, 14th Dec, 10.30am: Baby Book Club
A very special reading of  ‘The Night before Christmas’, and a sing song of some Christmas songs! There’ll be tea/coffee and mince pies for the grown-ups too! Suitable for ages 0 to 3.

Date & Time:  Tues, 18th Dec, 10.30am: Craft Workshop
A morning of crafting fun! Make some simple decorations that will look great on your Christmas tree! Suitable for ages 2 – 6 years.
